The grand Bud Spencer - Terence Hill marathon vol. 1

The first time I promised myself to do a proper Spencer - Hill marathon was when Bud Spencer died. That was almost two years ago. I never had really the time or I wasn't in the mood. Recently I have played Slaps and Beans and got in the mood and realised that I had the time. So I prepared myself a few movies and screened them for myself in random order. I lasted 5 films before it was too much for me.

GO FOR IT (1983)
My favorite since I first saw it. Not many fistfights in this one, but a lot of funny dialogue and fun overall. The duo is mistaken for secret agents this time and it leads them in various crazy situations. The scenes are hilarious. Bud in the jail, fistfight in the bar, "stealing" of the truck and the arresting by the police, showing the special tools by David Huddleston as the CIA commander, Spencer + Hill as two rich Texans, serving of the hamburgers... I could go on. But I NEED the T-Shirt "I Love K1".

FLATFOOT IN AFRICA (1978)
No Terence Hill this time. Bud Spencer gets all the bus thieves without shooting and bloodshed (learn, Maurizio Merli!) and then meets a mysterious guy from Africa. Bang, he's dead. Spencer goes to Johannesburg, where he meets his old friend Caputo, dead men's son Bodo and a lot of suspicious people. The humor served by Caputo and Bodo is stupid, but Spencer's dialogues, especially with Dagmar Lassander, are funny. Werner Pochath is as always a homosexual son of a bitch. Lots of action, suspense, more comedy than in the previous two parts. A good one.

WHO FINDS A FRIEND, FINDS A TREASURE (1981)
Together again. Hidden island, secret treasure, forgotten Japanese soldier, a boat full of marmalade, stupid pirates with headphones, an egg full of snakes. Very stupid and yet very funny movie. You can't recognize the director of Django and The Great Silence from this, but it's one of my favorite S+H movies. But I admit it's almost a guilty pleasure.

MIAMI SUPERCOPS (1985)
Oh, this one is so shitty... And the only thing it has in common with the previous S+H movies is the love/hate relationship between them. The rest is crap. No fun, no fistfights, some action with guns, but not interesting, the story sucks, the scenes suck. What the hell did the character of the musclegirl mean? Why to have the romance of BOTH Hill and Spencer? No wonder this was the last of their movies until...

THE TROUBLEMAKERS (1994)
Yes, until this one. It's better than Miami Supercops. But it could have been much better than it is. It's a western. But a family western with too many kids, their touching and unfunny scenes, with two annoying German girls and two unfunny sheriffs. The final fight is dull and ruined by the women and kids. Spencer is old, so is Hill, who is directing. He has learned something from Leone when it comes to the camera, but not enough when it comes to something else. Sorry, guys, if your last movie would be Double Trouble (1984), you would leave almost on top and we would be REALLY sorry there was nothing more.

That was enough for now, but I will have to return to the movies again. I have prepared much more and there are so many I still have to rewatch after a long time - Blackie the Pirate, Two Missionaries, A Genius, Two Partners and a Dupe, Bomber, Cats and Dogs, Charleston... And a few I haven't watched or I haven't seen the whole movie - Aladdin and Mr. Billion.  Next time.
